Play therapy in Zwijndrecht
Children show what is happening in their lives through their play. They show what is important to them. Play is, as it were, their language.

Children show what is happening in their lives through their play. They show what is important to them. Play is, as it were, their language.

As a play therapist, I read the child’s language: I look at what they show and put into words what is on their mind. Together, we discover which part of the structure of their life needs extra attention and which building blocks are needed to make this structure stronger. I do this during the observation period.

Once we have discovered this together, we get to work. We will have seen where the child can grow. Based on your request for help and the information gathered during the observation, a treatment plan is drawn up.
Your child will then come to the playroom at a fixed time every week to play. Within the play, they discover the qualities they possess, as well as how these qualities can be used in difficult moments. During play, the therapist plays along. She gives words to the feelings that are present and to what is happening. Assistance is provided in devising new behavior. This new behavior is practiced within the play.
After 4 to 5 sessions, we will have another parent meeting. We will then discuss your child’s development both in the playroom and at home and school.
When your child is able to handle and use their building blocks sufficiently, we will conclude the play therapy in about three sessions. During the final meeting, you will receive a final report.

The video above shows what play therapy can mean for a child.
